Last Time Ever to See Supercross Great Ricky Carmichael in Canada

AURORA, Ill. (November 13, 2006) – Ricky Carmichael, the all-time winningest motocross racer, announced today that he will open his part-time 2007 Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP season at Toronto’s Roger Centre (Dec. 2) followed by Vancouver’s B.C. Place Stadium (Dec. 9).

Carmichael, 26, of Tallahassee, Fla., captured the 2004-’05 Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP title and finished second last season to Kawasaki’s James Stewart. After announcing his retirement from racing a full-time professional supercross schedule, Carmichael signed a deal with MB2 Motorsports and will begin his venture in stock car racing while competing in a modified Amp’d Mobile Supercross schedule.

Before racing in Canada, Carmichael turned in an impressive performance at the Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open, finishing second to Stewart. The 15-time AMA National champion used the race as a preparation for Toronto.

“I just want to make it through testing and through this weekend and be 100 percent for Canada,” Carmichael said before his race with Stewart at the Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open.

“It will be exciting to watch Ricky race at the two Canadian races,” said Todd Jendro, senior director of supercross, Live Nation. “This will be the first time in his career that he will not be racing a full season for a championship. He showed a lot of speed at the Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open and his race with Stewart was a nail biter – hopefully a preview for what Canadian fans will see.”

As for the remaining races on his schedule, Carmichael is adamant that he is racing part-time regardless of the points standings. Carmichael will announce his 2006-’07 schedule shortly.
