Kiara Fontanessi Big Winner at POWR Women's Pro Shootout Presented by: Answer Racing and Pro Taper

FIM Women’s World Motocross Champion, Kiara Fontanessi of Italy made her trek to American soil very profitable as she pocketed the Lion’s share of the $15,000 up for grabs at the Answer Racing, Pro Taper Women’s Pro Shootout promoted by POWR, The Professional Organization of Women’s Racing last weekend.  The inaugural event had Pro and Amateur participants from 3 countries and 15 states, despite missing a few championship contenders from across the globe which included Duncan, Patterson, Rutledge and Tricker who were unable to attend due to injury or contract obligations, but who vowed to be at POWR events in 2015.

Fontanessi first struck gold by winning the PTM Corporation $1,000 Dash for Cash held Saturday.  The PTM Dash for Cash was a pre cursor for the weekend action, with Amanda Brown nailing the Holeshot, and grabbing a quick $100 from AGT.  Fontanessi went to the front early and streaked to the win over other cash winners, Canada’s Eve Brodeur, Kylie Fasnacht, Tarah Gieger and Marissa Markelon.

Fontanessi greeted Sunday’s 3-20 minute moto format with the same vigor displayed the day before and nailed two of the three AGT $500 Holeshot Awards, with the other being grabbed by Shelby Rolen.  Fontanessi would win every moto she entered on the weekend, earning her another $1,500 for the WSMX-Women’s School of Motocross Clean Sweep Award, despite a strong field of contenders.  Fontanessi’s final payout occurred when she scored the $500 Fastest Lap Award presented by Accurate Pest Control.  Tarah Gieger was the recipient of the $500 Bridgestone Hard Charger Award after overcoming a first turn crash and two off track excursions in route to a 4th overall finish in her first MX Race in over a year.

Fontanessi’s victory was aided not only by a great performance and quick starts, but also in part to the spirited battles raging across the track throughout all three motos, which resulted in forced errors , mishaps and crashes from her rivals giving her unfettered resistance to the flag.  Fontanessi was very enthusiastic about her experience during the Answer Racing, Pro Taper Women’s Pro Shootout promoted by POWR. “We have nothing that pays this well in Europe. Thank You to the sponsors who put up the Purse.  It is nice to be respected for our efforts. POWR did a great job, especially for their first event.  I look forward to returning with many other riders to future POWR events in America in 2015.”
