KTM MX2 GP: Musquin Snatches Second Consecutive GP Victory for KTM

Marvin Musquin, riding in only his second weekend for his new team, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, finished with a perfect score card on Sunday to thrill his home fans in France with his second consecutive MX2 GP victory in Ernee, France.
Anthony Boissiere of HDI KTM France had an excellent weekend, also in front of his home crowd and finished overall second.

Third 2009 GP victory for Marvin
Musquin finished the day's racing with two holeshots, two dominating moto victories and 50 more points towards his bid for the 2009 MX2 title. It hardly gets better than that and the euphoric fans that flocked to the circuit in northwest France rewarded him accordingly. It was the French rider's third GP victory in the current season. "It's like a dream come true," the 19-year-old new recruit to the Red Bull KTM Factory Team who also won the previous GP in Mallory Park with a perfect score card in his first ride for the team. "I tried to tackle this race with the same motivation as I did in England, but with all the French spectators behind me it was something special." Musquin already looked like the winner in the first moto, which was plagued by rain at the beginning and in the last few laps, causing the hard pack track to become slippery. Many riders had visibility problems and a few had to abandon their goggles.

Good bike, good, physical condition for Marvin.
"The track was difficult after the rain but I managed to get the holeshot and to be focused," Musquin said. "After that things were quite easy, even if was not so easy to pass because there were only one or two lines. I like my bike, my suspension was perfect and I'm in good physical condition. Also to come here from the last race with the red plate gave me confidence!"

Eventful second race for Boissiere
Boissiere was also pleased with his weekend even though he had eventful last laps of the second moto. "I was always up there with the rest in the first heat but in the second I had a flat tire in the last part," he said. Boissiere was lying second in the second heat and after the flat tire, eventually finished in seventh, still enough to retain second overall. "I am happy," he said. "I couldn't expect more this weekend. Marvin was very fast and second is a good result for me. Now I will try to get some more good results in the next races."

Mixed weekend for Rui Goncalves
Rui Goncalves, the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team's Portuguese rider who already has two GP victories to his credit had a tough weekend. He dislocated his shoulder in Saturday's qualifying and also got knocked about in Sunday's two races. "Yesterday I was taken out by Frossard and today another rider crashed right on top of me," the bruised and battered Rui reported. He has a large bruise on his left arm, bruising on his back and also got hit on the nose during the incident. "Now this weekend is over and I have two weeks to get back in shape," he said. "These things happen in racing but I plan to come back with my winning form for the next round. Rui still picked up points for his eleventh position and is in fourth position in the championship standings.
