Press Release

Josh Strang to Race John Penton GNCC‏

FMF/RPM/KTM Racing Team Maxxis is happy to announce that team rider Josh Strang will be heading East to compete in Round 9 of the Can-Am GNCC Series at the John Penton in Millfield, Ohio. Coming off a season-best performance at the Utah WORCS this past weekend where he finished with 3-1 moto scores for 2nd-overall. Strang, the Australian-born 2010 GNCC XC1 Pro Class Champion, sustained a broken leg at the final round of the 2011 GNCC season but has fully recovered and is beginning to find race-winning speed as proven by his performance at Sunday's WORCS event, winning the final moto pulling away from the field. Strang will head into the GNCC race with confidence and momentum.

"The timing is good and we have a good bike back there ready to go for him," says team owner Mike Hurlbert. "We are very excited to see what he can do, but we know it will be a challenge. Josh has been working super hard to do his part to get back up to speed and the team is doing its best to support such a great rider," concluded Hurlbert.    "I'm excited to get back to GNCC Racing, it was the first series I raced here in the States and I enjoy racing them. I'm looking forward to testing back East and then heading to the John Penton. That track has been good to me in the past and I'm looking to do well there again and have some fun!," said an excited Strang.

Bart Hayes and his WP USA / Genuine Dirt Racer / RidePG.com team will help with final bike preparation, testing, transportation, and pit set-up for Strang's return to GNCC Racing. "Bart and RidePG.com have been a team sponsor of ours for many years and just recently Strang and Hayes worked together on a WP USA suspension package that has Strang feeling very comfortable on his KTM 450 SX-F," commented Hurlbert. "We are very excited to work together in this manner. We've seen the great job Bart and his team have done supporting Steward Baylor and we're hoping for similar success for Strang. He has a great crew that loves off-road racing like we do at FMF/ RPM/ KTM Racing Team Maxxis and I am looking forward to a working relationship that could be long lasting," Hurlbert added.    Josh Strang will be working with Bart on final set up and getting acclimated to the heat and humidity of the area starting Wednesday, June 27th. The rest of the team is headed to XGames EnduroX on July 1st. Following X Games, team owner Mike Hurlbert will fly to Ohio to be with his star rider for the John Penton GNCC Event.
