Suzuki’s Thomas Gets Launched Off in Houston

It was
round six of the AMA Supercross series and the BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto
Suzuki team rider Jason Thomas was looking forward to keeping his main event
streak going but in the end, it was a disaster for the Floridian.

After
grabbing the last spot to the main event via the LCQ, Thomas wisely let
everyone go off the gate and cut to the inside of the twenty man gate. It was a
perfect strategy as when the inevitable carnage came in the first turn, the #47
was off and running inside the top ten. Things were looking great for Thomas to
get his best finish of the year when another rider jumped into the back of JT
about halfway through the main.

The
force threw Thomas off his bike and he came crashing to the ground, hurting his
knee in the process. That was all she wrote for the world’s most beloved
privateer, it was a DNF and a date with the MRI machine for Jason.

"I
was bummed for JT, he finally had a top 10 start and he was riding very
solid.  His lap times were fast and I think he would have seen his first
top 10 finish of the year with the way the rest of the field panned out by then
end of the race. It sucks for JT, but it could have easily been much worse
and he could have been out for the season just like that. It was a racing
incident - we race motorcycles, it's what we do. JT is not bitter and either am
I" said BBMX owner Forrest Butler.

Thomas
will sit out this weekend’s San Diego SX round to rest his knee and make sure
it is 100% to return back for next weekend’s Atlanta SX.  "I am
bummed for sure, but thankful it wasn't worse” said Thomas “The knee is a
little sore and both myself and my team think it would be best to not race
in what looks to be a mudder this weekend in San Diego and possibly
hurt it worse.  Atlanta is one of my favorite tracks on the tour, so I am
focused on killing it there and getting my points up there in the mix.”

Thank
you to our sponsors and there’s no way we could go racing without their help:
