James Marshall Project joins supercross team
Violation1.com/Shea Racing/National Switchgear to promote
its foundation for spinal cord and brain injury victims
The Project was created by former AMA Pro racer James Marshall
after suffering a serious spinal cord injury during a race
HOUSTON (October 20, 2010) – In another innovative step to advance its supercross program and give back to the sport, Team Violation1.com/Shea Racing/National Switchgear powered by Munn Racing KTM is partnering with the James Marshall Project, a non-profit foundation. During the 2011 Monster Energy AMA Supercross series, the team will introduce fans to the foundation to educate them about brain and spinal cord injuries and how they can help people integrate the injury into their life.
The
James Marshall Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation whose mission
is to provide support and assistance to the brain and spinal cord
injured, facilitating a return to productive life-work and
re-integration within their communities.
The foundation
was the idea of former AMA Pro rider #452 James Marshall. He was
injured at the sixth round of 2006 AMA Supercross series. Marshall
suffered damage to his C-2, C-4 and C-5 vertebra and now lives in a
wheelchair. Since his accident, he has re-integrated within his
community and now is leading this effort to help those who have
suffered either spinal cord or brain injuries.
“On behalf of myself, James Marshall, and the other board members of the jamesmarshallproject all being motocross and supercross enthusiasts, we are more than pleased to be a part of Shea Racing in 2011 as they have set big goals,” said Marshall. “We have complete faith the team will achieve its goals and JMP has set our own goals to support Shea Racing. Everyone behind JMP anxiously awaits January 8th in Anaheim to watch the Shea Racing team light up the stadium on the new KTM race bikes. Visit www.jamesmarshallproject.com to read more about our mission, board members and our specialty.”
Team Violation1.com/Shea Racing/National Switchgear will have literature available at every AMA Supercross round in 2011. The team will participate in fundraising events and community-based activities that support the James Marshall Project. Throughout the season, fans will be informed about how the team is involved and how you can support the Project.
“Since
our first season on the AMA Supercross tour we’ve had a mission to give
back to the community,” said team manager Tim Shea. “It began in 2009
with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Houston. The James
Marshall Project ties completely to our mission to have a community
side to our team and build on our passion for the sport by supporting
injured riders. And the James Marshall Project reaches beyond the sport
too, providing assistance to people from all walks of life with spinal
cord and brain injuries.”
