Press Release

JDR Motorex KTM’s Marmont set for sibling rivalry at home in Wollongong

JDR Motorex KTM’s Ryan
Marmont will be out to upstage elder brother Jay this Saturday when the
local brothers do battle on home soil for the first time ever at
Wollongong’s WIN Stadium in the Super X,  Australasian
Supercross Championship.

Headlining the event will be
Wollongong’s own Marmont brothers, featuring JDR Motorex KTM’s
Ryan Marmont alongside Jay in the Pro Open class ahead of a hometown crowd
for the first time in their careers.

Riding a 350 SX-F for the
factory KTM outfit, this season marks Ryan’s rookie season in the
premier class. Following a podium at round one last weekend on debut, Ryan
is hopeful he can follow that form up with another top result on 29
October.

“Having a top three
result last weekend was a really good start to the series, so I’ll be
taking the same attitude into Wollongong on Saturday night and hope to
continue that form,” 26-year-old Marmont said.

“It’s going to be totally different
entering my home round alongside Jay in the Open class. Racing him will be
something new and exciting, so hopefully I can show him up on race
day!”

With the opening round
won by JDR Motorex KTM teammate Tye Simmonds aboard the 450 SX-F,
Marmont’s third place made it two different capacity models from KTM
on the podium in the Pro Open class to commence the season.

“It goes to show with the range of bikes that
KTM have now that they have a model to suit pretty much every rider,”
Marmont added. “Personally I feel I can ride the 350 better, while
Tye is a bit bigger and suits the 450. It’s good for us as riders to
have the option thanks to KTM.”

Simmonds, 19, will lead the series into Wollongong, while
the third of the JDR Motorex KTM Pro Open team riders, Daniel Reardon, will
be fighting to claw his way back into contention following a ninth place
finish at the opener.

Another local
favourite headlining the show this Saturday in Wollongong will be South
Coast resident Matt Moss, the 23-year-old aiming to add a third Pro Lites
Super X title to his name in 2011.

After winning round one last weekend, Moss will again enter
the second stop of five as the man to beat in front of many hometown fans,
while teammate Brenden Harrison will also be looking to advance after
placing his 250 SX-F on the podium last week. Rounding out the all-star JDR
Motorex KTM line-up will be Victorian teenager Josh Cachia, who was fourth
in Melbourne.

Round two of the
Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, will take place on Saturday,
29 October, at WIN Stadium in Wollongong, NSW. Round two will consist of
the ‘Survival’ format in the Opens and ‘Triple
Header’ in the Lites.
