It’s on! Cobra Moto kids ready to represent @ Loretta Lynn’s Ranch

It’s the Super Bowl, Daytona 500 and World Series all mixed into the biggest week of amateur MX racing for the American-made Cobra Moto family

HURRICANE MILLS, Tenn., (July 28, 2014) – From Texas to Tasmania kids on Cobras are pumped up like Christmas morning – albeit for an entire week – as the world’s greatest amateur motocross event – the 2014 Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship – gets underway July 27 at famed country singer Loretta Lynn’s ranch, deep in the heart of Tennessee.

The iconic yellow mini cycles that have powered many of today’s top pros into the upper echelon of the sport – Cobra Moto’s CX50 JR, CX50 SR & CX65 – are trailered and traveling in from all points of the map, circling the Cobra Moto factory hauler from Michigan, along with two new factory support teams – the Michigan-based Allegan Motorsports Cobra Factory Team and the Cobra Moto National Development Team, run by nearby Memphis’ Lakehill Trackside Racing program.

“This is it – the one event we spend all year talking about. The one event where all the countless hours of testing, local racing around the nation and late, late hours of R&D come into play. This is our Super Bowl, our Daytona 500 … our World Series,” said Cobra Moto President Sean Hilbert.

Heading up Cobra’s all-star lineup in the 7-8 Class 2 (50cc Limited) at Loretta’s this week will be a host of seven-year-old racers, all of whom are right around the same speed – making it anyone’s guess as to who will make the podium! Noteworthy is the fact that Cobra Moto’s Ryder Di Francesco, who had a shot at Loretta’s history to become the first three-time 50cc class winner (only Di Francesco and Davi Millsaps have won two 50cc crowns), was banged up in practice after a dominant spring season on his CX50 SR (Oak Hill and Freestone Amateur National titles) and was unable to make the Loretta’s qualifier(s). Good news through is Ryder is back on his bike and ready to get back after it this fall in his final races for Cobra Moto.

Stepping up for Cobra in Di Francesco’s absence will be guys like Maryland’s Noah Geyer and Wisconsin’s Johnny Weber, along with top western United States Cobra racers Noah Gordon (Arizona) and Jordan Torres (California), along with international star Jett Burgess-Stevens (Tasmania). Cobra Moto’s defending 4-6 MX1 class champion, Casey Cochran, will be right at home in the Tennessee heat and eager to make a name for himself in his first year as a 7-8 class racer.

“This looks to be a rebuilding/reloading year for Cobra Moto in the 7-8 class,” said Hilbert. “We’ve got a whole pile of seven-year-olds, all with great potential this year, but who’ll certainly challenge for the top spots in 2015.”

In the 4-6 MX1 (50cc Limited) class at Loretta’s it’s usually anybody’s guess as to who’ll wind up on top. Experiencing one of their first major Amateur National races of their budding MX careers, racers can – and often do – appear out of nowhere to make the podium. Leading that charge for Cobra Moto this week will be a number of kids off Cobra’s new satellite support teams. Kason Little (Texas) and Mason Tucker (Pennsylvania) from the Allegan team, along with Kyler Rhom (North Carolina) and Hayden Cline (Texas) from Cobra Moto’s National Development Team. Other Cobra Moto CX50 JR racers to watch include California’s Enzo Temmerman and New Mexico’s Evan Woody.

Cobra’s CX65 will be well represented with returning 7-9 top five finisher Brock Lassiter (Mo.) and last year’s MX2 podium placer Reed Cooper (New York). And in 10-11 Gage Steburg (Iowa) will represent Cobra on the CX65.
