The Bulgarian
rider Petar Petrov has his first outing for the Yamaha van Beers Racing
Team at the international race at Lommel this weekend. Petrov has had a
good preparation for the season and is motivated to do well in his second
year in the World Championship Series. We asked him a few questions before
his first race of the season.
Question: Can
you tell us something about your winter period?
Answer: I have
done a lot of physical training and running to built up my condition. I
also spend some time with my family but after a while it’s getting boring
because you want to ride the bike again. I don’t have so many friends in
Bulgaria because everybody is living in Belgium.
Question: In
January you went to Spain with your teammate Herjan Brakke. How did things
went for you over there?
Answer: It was
nice in Spain. The weather was great so it was nice to ride there. We rode
in different tracks which was cool. We had a lot of fun.
Question: Are
you satisfied about the Yamaha?
Answer: Yes
the bike is really good and I’m having a lot of fun riding it. The bike
has nice power and I am 100% satisfied about it.
Question: Last
year was your first Grand Prix season. Are you happy with how things have
gone?
Answer: It was
a good year but I had some problems with my team. It was a great
experience. I finished in 17th position twice so that was not
so bad. I know I can do better but we will see this year.
Question: What
is your goal for this season?
Answer: Top 15
without injuries.
Question: The
first Grand Prix will be held in your home country. Is this more difficult
for you than other races?
Answer: Yes
it’s more difficult because you want to do well for the fans. But it can
be a good start of the season!
Question: This
weekend you will ride at the Lommel international. Are you ready for this
race?
Answer: Yes I
think I am ready but it’s more important to be ready before the first
Grand Prix in April.
Question: You
race the complete Dutch Open Championship Series. Do you think you can go
for the title?
Answer: I know
that Herlings and Roelants are riding so it will not be easy. But who
nows, we have to wait and see.
Thanks Petar
for your time.
