International Street Party Highlights 2009 AMA International Women & Motorcycling Conference, presented by Harley-Davidson and Buell

Canadians collaborate with AMA to enhance international aspect of conference

PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) is pleased to announce that the Motorcyclists' Confederation of Canada (MCC) will organize the Friday evening, Aug. 21, International Street Party at the 2009 AMA International Women & Motorcycling Conference, presented by Harley-Davidson and Buell. The conference will take place Aug. 19-22 in Keystone, Colo., and is the fifth gathering that the AMA has organized since 1997.

The evening will feature live entertainment, a riding apparel show and a bike show. Liz Jansen, an MCC director and chair of its Women Riders Council, has joined the Conference Advisory Council to actively participate in the event's planning and preparation.

"We are proud to participate in an event that celebrates women motorcyclists from around the world," said Jansen. "Hosting the Friday night International Street Party provides an opportunity for women motorcyclists to come together for a full evening of fun, and Canadian riders will have a significant presence there. We are delighted to be coordinating  this event by providing Canadian entertainment and speaker content, honoring the contribution of Canadian riders, and acting as liaisons for other international attendees."

The AMA International Women & Motorcycling Conference, presented by Harley-Davidson and Buell, is the country's premier event for women motorcyclists. With this year's theme of "Riding to New Heights," the conference not only recognizes the contributions of women riders to motorcycling's past and present, it also celebrates the ever-increasing role that women riders are playing in its future.

"The AMA is pleased to be able to enhance the international aspects of its conference through this association with the Motorcyclists' Confederation of Canada," said Tigra Tsujikawa, marketing and special events manager for the AMA, who noted that women from as far away as Japan and Sweden have already registered.

Canadians in attendance can also reap some additional conference benefits. The MCC is providing a complimentary membership in MCC to all Canadian attendees, and EagleRider, Official Motorcycle Rental Sponsor of the conference, is extending its 15 percent AMA member discount to Canadians. In addition, conference fees for Canadians are being adjusted to Canadian dollars at par, or US$132 -- a 20% discount.

Conference participants will enjoy a full slate of activities during the event, including demo rides, a vendor area and an impressive schedule of conference seminars. Registration fees also cover admission to the opening ceremonies on Aug. 19, a barn dance on Aug. 20, the International Street Party on Aug. 21, and a closing banquet on Aug. 22. The fee for those registering before Aug. 3 will also include a commemorative t-shirt.
