Honda and Martin Racing Technology celebrate 20 years of partnership

Honda
and Martin Racing Technology have commemorated 20 years of partnership
by producing a special racing livery for the Grand Prix of Italy, held
in Fermo this weekend.

In a press conference held last night, the
new livery was unveiled to an audience of media and selected guests.
Taking inspiration from the 1991 CR250 that was ridden to championship
glory by Trampas Parker, the new CRF450R livery adopted many retro
styling cues from this historic machine.

Martin Racing Technology
tasted success in their very first season in competition on the world
stage, winning the 250cc world title with Trampas Parker in 1991. This
was to be the start of a 20-year relationship, which has seen the team
campaign Honda machinery at the highest level of the sport.

It
seems fitting that whilst celebrating the last 20 years, 2011 very much
marks a new era. At the start of the year, Martin Racing Technology
became the official Honda squad , renamed the Honda World Motocross
Team. The new era has begun well, with the team taking seven podiums out
of the 14 races so far this season.

Lorenzo Resta, Team Manager, Honda World Motocross
“We
are tremendously proud of our relationship and our adventure with Honda
and what we have achieved together over the last 20 years. We are now
looking forward to the future and hope that it will bring mores success
together.”

Paolo Martin, Team Principal, Honda World Motocross
“We
have been partners with Honda for many years. Our best result came in
1991 in our first year using Honda. Since then we have set on achieving
success again and our relationship has evolved with Honda so that we now
feel we are in a great position to achieve this.”

Roger Harvey, Off-road Manager, Honda Motor Europe
“It
is a real achievement to be at the highest level for 20 years. We have
recognized this achievement, making them the official Honda team from
the start of this season. Over 20 years we have continuously grown
closer with Martin Racing Technology and 2011 marks the year that we
have officially joined forces with them for an assault on the world
crown.”
