Hill Grabs RC Hard Charger in Texas

Josh Hill Grinds Out Admirable Ride to Grab RC Hard Charger Award at Freestone

MORGANTOWN, W.V. (June 10, 2009) - Factory Yamaha's Josh Hill captured the Ricky Carmichael Hard Charger award last Saturday thanks to his come-from-behind performance in moto one of the Flagstar Bank Motocross National, round three of the Lucas Oil AMA Motocross Championship.

Hill suffered from a bad start in the day's opening moto of the 450 Class, crossing the line on lap one in a dismal 39th place, second to last. However, the Oregon rider refused to give up and endured the challenging conditions, traffic and endless roosting to climb his way up to 17th place at the end of 16 laps.

For his efforts, Hill earned this week's Ricky Carmichael Hard-Charger Award, which is handed out at each round of the series. The award goes to the rider who passes the most riders in any given championship moto, from completion of the first lap through the checkered flag. It is named in honor of Ricky Carmichael, the 10-time AMA Motocross Champion and winner of a record 102 AMA Motocross races, not to mention five AMA Supercross crowns and 48 main event wins.

Hill, who has struggled to find consistency throughout the early part of the season, currently sits 18th in the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship standings but continues to get faster each week as the series heads to the east coast an High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris, Pa.

Live streaming video of the first motos of Saturday's Monster Energy National from Mt. Morris can be found on www.allisports.com, beginning at 1 p.m. ET, which is 6 p.m. GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) for international fans. The race will also mark the first live network television broadcast in the history of motocross, beginning at 4:30 p.m. ET on NBC. Check your local listings for the time and channel.
