Press Release

HOT’LANTA KINDA COOL FOR MOTOCONCEPTS RACING . . .

Temecula, CA.  In front of a sold-out crowd of over 71,000
screaming Supercross fans at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta,
the MotoConcepts Racing (MCR) team showed flashes of brilliance but,
alas, achieved results somewhat below their best showings this season.

Saturday marked the eighth
stop of the 2012 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series and the
second round of the tour’s East Coast swing.  MCR fielded three riders; Mike
Alessi
and Jeff Alessi on the big bikes while Jake
Canada
represented the team in the small-bore class.  Tommy
Weeck
, having conked his noggin the previous week in Dallas,
decided to sit out the event to better recover.  Look for Tommy to be
tanned, rested, and ready to go this week in St. Louis, MO.

Timed qualifying was just
so-so, with Canada squeaking inside the top ten in 9th position in
the Lites while Mike Alessi took 14th in the Supercross class.
Jeff Alessi rounded out the team’s Supercross effort, qualifying 25th
fastest.

Jake Canada, after a first
lap mishap in his heat race left him towards the back of the pack, finished 10th,
missing the last transfer spot by a few bike lengths.  Jake, however,
showed excellent speed, setting the 3rd fastest lap time of his
heat.

The Last Chance Qualifier
(LCQ) was almost a disaster for Canada after a terrible start left him crossing
the finish line on the first lap in 8th place.  Not to be
denied, Jake rode like a man possessed in the short four-lap race.
Nailing lap times that were almost two seconds per lap faster than his next
closest competitor, he found himself in 3rd position with only a
half lap remaining, needing one more pass to make the main.  Putting his
head down and hanging it all out, he blew by AJ Catanzaro to nab
the last transfer spot and then made a final pass on Lance Vincent
in the final turn to win the LCQ in a photo finish by one-tenth of one second.

The Lites main event
started inauspiciously for Canada, as he went down in the first lap scramble,
leaving him in dead last, many seconds behind his next competitor.  It
took him 4 laps just to make his way into 19th place, but after that
he clocked fast lap after lap, passing one or more riders every reaming lap to
finish, when all was considered, an outstanding 9th overall.

In the Supercross class
Mike Alessi battled with factory riders Justin Brayton and Jake
Weimer
, eventually taking the 5th transfer spot ahead of
them in the first heat race, while Jeff Alessi held off numerous challenges to
hang on to the last transfer spot, finishing 9th place in heat two.

The Alessi brothers both
uncharacteristically gated poorly in the Supercross main event, rounding the
first lap in 14th and 16th place, respectively.
Never really finding the grove on the tough Georgia clay track, Mike finished a
disappointing 12th overall while Jeff crossed the checkered flag in
18th place.

As the series moves
mid-west to the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, MO,
Mike Alessi finds himself in 10th overall in the standings, only a handful of
points away from the top five, while Jeff jumps several spots to 27th
overall in the Supercross class.  Jake Canada remains 7th overall in the
East Coast Lites championship, finding himself only a few points outside the
top five.
