Press Release

Greg Aranda and LS Honda Racing agree to split

After ongoing discussions about the preparation for the 2013 GP season and the final racing calendar Gregory Aranda (23) and LS Honda Racing have jointly decided to end their collaboration. The former European SX champion was due to join his future team mate Jens Getteman at the start of the team’s training camp in the south of France. Of course Getteman’s preparation under the watchful eye of physical coach Yves Devlaminck will continue as planned.

Aranda’s contract –to start on the 1st of January- with the highly regarded team- was ended by both parties on amicable terms. LS Honda Racing is currently working to find a suitable replacement rider for Aranda and welcomes offers from riders interested in working with the team. Greg Aranda will announce his new team shortly.

Steven Lettani, team manager LS Honda Racing: “We still believe in Greg and his talent as a rider yet we know that you need to be 100% committed to succeed in the FIM MX1 World championship. Maybe Greg’s priorities have shifted and he wants to focus more on Supercross and racing at home. I respect that and wish him the best of luck for the future.  With Jens (Getteman) we are working hard to take on his new challenge of racing in MX1. He has made good progress with his fitness in last couple of weeks. Riding on soggy soil in difficult circumstances like he has lately is not so much fun but I’m sure the hard work will pay off! During our training camp now he can enjoy the hard pack tracks while gaining more experience with the new CRF450R.”

Greg Aranda: “After some serious reflection I made my choice.  At this moment in my life and my career I prefer to stay in France. The team was also concerned about the heavy schedule of GP races and the French Elite championship. I understand this but before the French calendar was decided this didn't seem a problem. Anyway for me the Elite series is too important to give up. Staying in Belgium full time -like the team requested- is unfortunately not possible for me. I would like to express my gratitude to Steven (Lettani), Denis (Pipelier), Yves (Devlaminck) and the rest of the LS Honda Racing team for their trust and supporting me with their material in the supercross races I did this winter.”
