EnduroCross Moves On To Ohio

Round 5: Kawasaki In Control

ANAHEIM, Calif. (October 2, 2008) Team Monster Energy Kawasaki leads the way as the 2008 AMA/Maxxis EnduroCross Championship Series presented by Lucas Oil moves to the Buckeye State for the first time. The penultimate round of the championship and the second leg of the GEICO Triple Crown will be held this Saturday, October 4th, in Ohio State University ’s incredible Value City Arena at the Schottenstein Center, in Columbus , Ohio .

Monster Energy Kawasaki ’s Damon Huffman is on a role and sitting in first place in the championship, after convincingly winning the last two events over his teammate, Ricky Dietrich, and a packed field of talented riders. The former US Open champ and supercross star, Huffman, who has found a second career in Off-Road competition has been on the gas this season and has seemed to figure out the secret to these highly technical EnduroCross tracks. Not giving him much room and sitting in second place in the championship, Dietrich, has experienced much of his own success this year. Finishing second in last month’s ISDE and currently leading the WORCS series championship, Dietrich won the first leg of the GEICO Triple Crown at the AMA/Maxxis EnduroCross in Guthrie , Oklahoma earlier this summer. If he can somehow best Huffman and the rest of the incredible field of riders and pull off wins this weekend and at the Final in Las Vegas on November 22, Dietrich would rake in the $50,000 put up by GEICO!

As if that weren’t enough to ensure Monster Energy Kawasaki a top finish in this weeks Ohio event, they have also decided to enlist the services of Team Green GNCC regular, Scott Watkins, for his first AMA/Maxxis EnduroCross!

“We are very pleased to have the support of Monster Energy Kawasaki and it’s exciting to see two of their riders battling it out for the championship title as well as the chance to win the GEICO Triple Crown,” exclaims EnduroCross boss, Eric Peronnard.

Team Red Bull KTM is shooting for the win and bringing in some top guns for this event. Series regular and Round 1 winner, Taddy Blasuziak, is back to reclaim the top spot on the podium while motocross/supercross legend, Mike Brown and GNCC regular, Justin Williamson will help hoist the team banner! Brown competed in his first AMA/Maxxis EnduroCross in Florence, South Carolina, a few weeks back and said, “this is harder than Supercross!”

Many other very talented riders will also be shooting for their first AMA/Maxxis EnduroCross win, such as, 10X US Trials champ and last week’s runner up in Denver, Christini/KTM/BTOsports.com’s Geoff Aaron, as well as Lucas Oil’s young gun, Colton Haaker, Canada’s Bobby Prachnau, Off-Road legend, Ty Davis and his Tip-Ty Suzuki Racing teammate, Nick Brozovich. Given the growing series is visiting the Mid-west for the first time, many of the region’s top off-roaders are expected to take part in this extremely challenging indoor Off-Road racing event on one of the nation’s top college campuses!

“We have been looking forward to coming to OSU’s gorgeous basketball arena, and everyone at the Value City Arena has made us feel right at home,” points out Peronnard.

EnduroCross tracks incorporate various elements of Off-Road racing into a supercross-style setting, including rocks, boulders, logs, sand, mud, a water-hole… and even a few special obstacles like giant tires! Known as the “toughest racing on two wheels,” this indoor version of extreme off-road racing will keep you on your feet! The series, now its second season, will be captured by Lucas Oil and the Versus Network, to be aired on the popular grassroots racing program, the Lucas Motorsports Hour. Given it’s excitement and unpredictability, Round 5 looks to be an amazing event in Columbus! Don’t miss your chance to see AMA/Maxxis EnduroCross and be sure to log-on to www.motorsportshour.com for local airing dates/times for the Lucas Motorsports Hour.
