EKS BRAND goggle weekend report‏

Another great weekend for the EKS BRAND race team around the world! Putting the goggles to the test!

Kevin Strijbos, 3rd place, MX-1 FIM World Championships Brazil.
Jose Butron, 3rd place, MX-2 FIM World Championships, Brazil.
The mud was one of the protagonists today at Beto Carrero’s track due to the heavy rain, so the start was crucial for all the riders to fight for the top positions. The riders who managed to be the first ones to reach the first corner, or had the best vision on the track, just needed to make their best not to make mistakes and ride safe until the end.

In the MX-1 class, the third step of the podium was for one of the most experienced MX1 riders in the paddock, EKS BRANDS Kevin Strijbos. The last time the Belgian rider was on the podium was back in 2007, so he was really satisfied with his performance this weekend. In the first race Strijbos crashed in the first corner, but he managed to finish fifth with near perfect vision the entire race. In the second moto the HM Plant KTM UK rider rode consistently in the fourth position and when there were two laps to go, Pourcel made a mistake and Stirjbos moved up to the third position giving him a very impressive 3rd overall!

Kevin Strijbos: “I´m really happy because all went really good. The track was very muddy, we didn’t make the warm-up and I didn’t know what to expect in the first race. I just tried to make a good start but it pushed me wide and I crashed in the first corner and stared in the last position. In the first lap I went inside of the pitlane to put new gloves on and I started last again, but then everything went well, I was riding good, I found really good lines because I could see perfect and I managed to go up to fifth. So I was surprised about that and I wasn’t too tired, I felt very good before the second moto.

In the second race I just tried to take a good start again and it happened, I was fourth I think, or even third when Desalle passed me he then passed Tanel and I followed his lines and I could also pass him (Tanel).
My mechanic put in the pitboard that I needed to pick up on place, so when Clement passes Christophe I also passed him, so I was really happy for that. I didn’t know I was on the podium; I’m very happy to be on the podium because it has been five years now and I’m also happy for the team and also for Roger because he has done all his best to make it happen.”

It was also a very special day in the MX-2 class for KTM Diga Racing’s, EKS BRAND's Butrón, as he completed the top three of the Grand Prix of Brazil. Butrón was visibly moved to be on the podium and he actually admitted that it was like a dream come true; in fact, it was the first time that a Spanish rider was on an MX2 podium. In the first moto, the KTM Diga Racing rider finished eighth, but in the second one he took the holeshot and managed to lead the first two laps. Searle overtook the Spanish rider, but Butrón managed to keep the second position until the end.

KEVIN STRIJBOS after moto 1 in Brazil. One of only a few to actually finish with goggles!

Kyle Chisholm, 11th MX-1 AMA Motocross Hangtown
Kyle Chisholm worked through the pack both moto's this weekend in Sacramento to bring home a 13th the first moto and a solid 9th the second moto for 11th overall. He now sits 11th in the overall National point standings...
Our Hats off to Mike Alessi who finished an impressive 3rd place overall!

Bobby Garrison 1st, XC-1 WORCS round 6 Adelanto CA.
Gary Sutherlin 8th,
Josh Strang 9th,
Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Bobby Garrison stepped up with a great performance at round six of the WORCS Series to take his second overall win of the season at Race Town in Adelanto. It wasn’t an easy weekend for Garrison who had to battle from a poor start in the first race to move up to third by the end of the event. Then in the second race, Garrison started well but found himself in a duel with teammate Taylor Robert. Robert was riding flawlessly for most of the race, but a leaky head gasket overheated his engine and sometime after the one hour mark Robert’s motor gave out and he pushed the 450 back to the pits. Garrison found himself alone out front and easily took the second race win to clinch the overall victory.
Bobby Garrison, “We had a good race going and I wanted to beat him straight up. This is my kind of track and I’m glad to put a Kawasaki on the top of the podium.”

Ivan Ramirez 1st, PRO-2 WORCS round 6 Adelanto CA.
Cory Graffunder 4th
Evan Kelly 1st PRO-2 Lights.
