Division 7/Star Racing/NCY/Yamaha Southwick MX Race Recap

The AMA motocross championship series went into action over the weekend at Motocross 338 in Southwick, MA. Being the toughest track of the year with its deep sand; it always results to be a true test of man and machinery. Division 7/Star Racing/NCY/Yamaha fielding top prospects Broc Tickle #35, Matt Lemoine #52, Jake Moss #82, and Wil Hahn #99 came in eager to continue on keeping our steady rise up going.

Riding like he had something to prove, in the first moto Lemoine got out of the gate in 9th. From there, Lemoine put down some solid laps early on, and took his #52 YZ 250f upward into 7th. As time counted down to midway point, Lemoine raced his way up to the competitors holding fifth and sixth. Using any reserved energy he had, Lemoine put in his best effort to snatch a higher placing, but in the end it was just out of reach and he’d finish out in 7th. Another decent start to moto two, with him sitting 10th, left things looking promising. However, five laps in, Lemoine took a soil sample which dropped his ranking to 30th, after a quick remount the sophomore raced with tons of heart and climbed back to 12th, giving the strong willed kid 8th overall for the day.

Making some waves his own self, was Tickle who rounded lap one in 29th. Not willing to just settle, Tickle put on a clinic by forging forward during the races duration. Picking off one rider at a time, Tickle earned a hard fought 14th going into moto two. When moto two came to existence, Tickle could be found lying in the first turn thanks to a pileup. Resuming to the race in a distant 30th, the focused kid worked in the same grand fashion as earlier. At the halfway point he held 20th, but it didn’t stop there because eventually he would claim 11th giving him an overall of 12th.

Next in line was Moss, who had a horrible start to moto one as he crashed in a big way on lap one. Once going again, Moss faced an insurmountable gap to come away with any kind of decent finish. He was able to bring himself back to 23rd, just missing a national point. The second moto was better, Moss managed to complete lap one in 13th, and stayed committed throughout the races entirety, taking a 10th place tally, which netted the rookie a overall of 15th.

Also running was Hahn who gave his all and put together a quiet, but consistent 18 – 14 in his motos which helped him salvage 17th overall on the day.

Next race is Friday Aug 29th & Saturday 30th: Steel City MX park- Delmont, PA – FINAL ROUND!!!
