Division 7/Star Racing/NCY/Yamaha Red Bud MX Race Recap

Over the past weekend Division 7/Star Racing/NCY/Yamaha visited Michigan’s Red Bud Track & Trail for the sixth round of the AMA outdoor national championship series. With track and weather at a premium, team riders Broc Tickle #35, Matt Lemoine #52, Jake Moss #82, and Wil Hahn #99 all were at full tilt in anticipation of good results.

Taking top honors on the day would be Moss, starting moto one in 12th, early on he climbed as high as 10th. A few bobbles at key points of the race forced a slip in the standings, but a strong finish to the moto allowed him to come out 17th. Moto two began with Moss bolting out to a start inside the top five, in the coming laps until the halfway point, the Aussie held his own while he raced in a super heated battle amongst top contenders. Striving to keep his form, his pace fell off momentarily and that shifted the #82 machine back to 12th. Reluctantly, Moss found some reserve energy and bounced back in the closing laps to nab 8th.

Next best on the Division 7 team was Lemoine; a start of 24th would set the Texan up for a charge upward. Lap after lap, Lemoine picked up positions very steadily and by mid moto he had risen quite a ways. So far indeed, that when the moto came to a culmination, #52 had knocked ten positions off of his start, giving him a well earned 14th. Moto two got underway with Lemoine acquiring a 10th place start, now with his potential coming to existence, Lemoine held his own and rode up into the 8th spot. Fending off attacks, Matt made moves in order to secure a good end result. On lap twelve of fourteen, Lemoine made a mistake in a turn that was costly; he entered into a tight, rutted turn and stalled his machine. Able to get it going again quickly, his error cost him because he now sat 15th; however one more gallant effort allowed him to squeak into 12th just before the checkers.

For Tickle moto one started positively with him holding the 10th position, unfortunately on lap two he would go on to crash and start over the race in 31st. Accomplishing the task of mounting a charge, Tickle proceeded to pick off a good amount of his competition and finish out in 20th. A start in moto two of 20th, left some room for improvement. On lap two Tickle had risen his YZ250f to 16th, once there he tried his best for the remainder of 30 min. +2, but things never developed just right and 14th was his finishing destination.

Wil Hahn had a pretty quiet day, starting both motos around the 20th position, he then raced with all he had and went on to finish 21-18 on the day.
