Davi Millsaps Recovers From Injury As Kyle Regal Makes Push Toward Top-10 Overall

Mechanicsville, Maryland, June 19, 2012 – The 2012 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship Series made its way to Mechanicsville, Md. last weekend for round five of competition. The annual Budd’s Creek stop has historically coincided with Father’s Day weekend, and this year proved no different, as three generations of Gibbs were on hand to catch the Joe Gibbs Motocross team live.

Recently recovered from an injury sustained in practice before round two, team JGRMX/ Toyota/ Yamaha’s Davi Millsaps came out of the gate strong riding on Pirelli’s Scorpion MX family of tires. After starting towards the front of the pack in the first moto, Millsaps remained inside the top-10 for the majority of therace and crossed the finish line ninth. Teammate Kyle Regal suffered a jam in his rear break mechanism early on that forced him to last place, but was able to recover and salvage 22nd by the end of the first moto.

A small collision at the beginning of the second moto pushed Millsaps toward the rear of the pack, but his continued tenacity resulted in an improved finish of seventh place. Regal maintained a top-ten position throughout the second moto and finished ninth. Millsaps’ nine-seven moto scores found him eighth overall for the day, while Regal’s 22-nine finishes found him 13th overall.

“After five races, the championship is well on its way and the JGRMX/ Toyota/ Yahama team of Millsaps and Regal are putting in top ten finishes. For now, we’ll take the points on the board and be ready to fight for the podium in Millville,” commented Josh Whitmire, Pirelli Tire North America Off-Road Manager.
