Press Release

DNA Energy Drink/BTO Sports.com/BBMX Team Smells like Teen Spirit at the Seattle SX

Seattle, WA - After a week off to look for Easter eggs, the AMA supercross series resumed in the home of the grunge movement, a giant needle and a track that reminded us of last week’s Easter pudding. We also should mention that this week we picked up a new rider for the last three supercrosses and his name is Ben Lamay. It seems that Shaun Skinner is going to be out for a while and we needed a rider named Ben who is from Alaska to take his place. Lamay seemed fit that criteria, so welcome aboard Ben!

With very little time to adapt to our 250F, Ben put in a decent showing but missed the main event. He was two short in the heat race and in the LCQ he was also two short. We think he might need to grow a bit to make the main but what do we know? In all seriousness though, Ben qualified 13th fastest out of practice and had his hands full being that his first ride on the bike (and a Honda CRF250f for that matter) was in the first practice session.  Not bad for only 30 mins on the bike in a tough top 20 field of Lites riders.

Our two east coast 250 riders, Kyle “St Pete for life” Keylon and Jason “The Rolling Tank” Thomas both moved up to the big boy 450 class and had mixed results. Keylon couldn’t make it in despite the soft, sandy track which was eerily reminiscent of the St Petersburg national where his dad, Kenny, won in 1982. Apparently, sand skills aren’t passed down (at least not in SX for Kyle’s sake).

So just like Jacksonville, our man JT$ held the fort down and made the 450 main event with a strong ride in the heat and eventually he finished fifteenth in a stacked class. We’re proud of Kyle and Ben but we’re really happy with Jason. He gets the gold star and a case of DNA Energy drink!
