b>WINDSOR, CT. The worlds largest purpose built indoor motorcycle facility hosted New England's first ever dirt track race. Months of negations and design time came together as 133 entries greeted the fresh clay. Professional and amateur riders came from as far away as Maryland, Pennsylvania and New York.

The first race tested the waters with a mix of Karts, small quads and motorcycles. The Karts and quads worked the track in beautifully and their full program was run from start to finish beginning at 11:00. The bikes then practiced with great reviews from everyone. The track produced some awesome racing in almost every class. Passing was easily done with a wide groove all day long. Overall, the first event was a success from all involved. The competitors loved it. Over 400 enthusiastic fans were cheering, the track owner was impressed and most importantly, Sideways Promotions is very excited to bring a show of this quality indoors where weather is not a factor.

This is the first race in 20 years that Sideways Promotions didn't have to watch the weather channel the night before! To make the next events even more fan friendly, we are adjusting the program. The Karts and quads will run in the afternoon and a motorcycle program in the evening. The motorcycle program will be inverted starting the heats and features with the Open Premier Class and working down to the smaller classes. Between the Dunkin Donuts, Blimpie Subs and Doogies for refreshments plus two motorcycle shops on the premises the Mototown indoor races are the place to be March 24th and April 28th.

Kenny Coolbeth, riding his Bettencourt's Honda 450, took home first place cash in the two pro classes. Even though he won he had to work for it in the Open Premier. Kenny was fifth on lap one and showed why he is National #1. The race track had just been turned over and the King used every line possible to get to the front. Kenny's Bettencourt teammate flying Bryan McKenna was the bridesmaid behind Kenny in both classes. The wily old veteran Roger Durkee showed he can still mix it up with them youngsters finishing 3rd in the 250 + Pro class.

The vintage class had Greg Bastek on his immaculate XL350 Honda beating out a cool variety of Yamaha, Triumphs and I think even a BSA. The riders, who came from all over the Northeast were as colorful as the bikes they rode.

The 85cc class was another hot event. Shane Fallon got the hole shot and led for a lap before Alex Thibeault passed him after his usual slow start. Roger Durkee's nephew Travis Reidy finished 3rd.

The Senior B class had entries from 5 states, but Fred Berryman from Plymouth, MA came out on top of the bump fest. The passing was typical indoor bull ring racing. Inside, outside with an occasional bounce off the plywood barriers, it had it all. Burt Legary, motocrosser turned dirttracker finished 2nd with Joe Medas, Fred's buddy in 3rd.
