HILLSDALE, Mich., (Aug. 10, 2009) – Cobra racers continued to write the chapters of the most success American-made motorcycle in the history of amateur motocross racing, this past week, led by California’s Stilez Robertson and Florida’s Jordan Bailey – sweeping the year’s premier 50cc class races at the 28th annual Ski Nautique AMA Amateur MX National Championships, hosted by Loretta Lynn in Hurricane Mills, Tenn.

Beginning with the 51cc AMA 2 Stock class, Bailey led a Cobra King 50 charge that locked down the first 24 spots in the field (1st through 24th) and a total of 37 out of the possible 42 spots. “It’s been a long time since Cobra’s been that dominant in that class,” said an astonished Sean Hilbert, President of Cobra Motorcycles.

Joining Bailey on the AMA 2 Stock podium were Cobra’s Carter Halpain (Texas) and Michael Hicks (Mo.) in 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

In the little guys’ 51cc AMA 1 Stock class, Robertson matched Bailey with a 1st/1st/1st three-moto sweep. In 2nd place behind Robertson was Cobra’s Ethan Mann (Wash.) and 3rd place went to Cobra-mounted Gauge Keith (Md.). In all, Cobra kids swept the top six AMA 1 Stock class positions, eight of the top ten spots and 36 of the 43 qualifying spots in the class’ field.

“The overall presence of Cobra bikes in both the 51cc AMA 1 and 2 Stock classes was as good as we’ve ever seen,” added Hilbert. “Congrats again to Stilez and Jordan, along with all the other kids and their families that worked so hard to make it to Loretta’s this year. Enjoy the next couple weeks before you have to get ready to go back to school. We’ll look forward to seeing a lot of you at Branson (Mo.) and the Mini Os in November!”

Loretta’s also proved to be a key spot to launch the new Cobra 2010 line. All the new models, including the CX65, were photographed and videoed all over Loretta’s and caught the attention of the entire industry attending the event. Keep an eye on Cobra’s website for photos and a video on the new line of bikes.
