CBS to Air First of Seven Amp'd Mobile Supercross Races

From Phoenix This Sunday at 12:30 P.M. EST

AURORA, Ill. (January 12, 2007) – The Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP/Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series race from Chase Field in Phoenix will air this Sunday at 12:30 p.m. EST on CBS, the first of seven one-hour racing broadcasts the national network is providing to cover the season. All tolled, CBS will air nine hours of supercross coverage this season, including the preview show which ran in December and a post-season wrap-up show which will run on CBS May 6.

Amp’d Mobile Supercross has enjoyed national network coverage beginning with it first network broadcasted race on ABC back in 1998.  Since 1998, supercross has aired nationwide with over 20 hours of network coverage.  2007 is a milestone year for Amp’d Mobile Supercross television as the nine hours on CBS alone, when combined with the 60+ hours on SPEED, provide the most comprehensive television package in the history of the sport.

The on-track battles between the sport’s top names continue to take supercross to new heights and provide for exciting television broadcasts. James Stewart, Ricky Carmichael, Chad Reed and the rest of the stars of supercross will once again square off in Phoenix for what figures to be another great night of racing.

Last week’s race in Anaheim, which was carried live on SPEED, was another milestone for Amp’d Mobile Supercross television.  The opening domestic round of Amp’d Mobile Supercross was shown live on SPEED for the first time ever – available to over 70 million homes.

Racing action featuring the Supercross Lites class from Chase Field in Phoenix will air at 6:00 p.m. EST, January 27, on SPEED.

Ralph Sheheen, Jeff Emig and Erin Bates have developed a successful on-air chemistry in just their first year of CBS/SPEED announcing as a team. Long time motorsports announcer Sheheen calls the racing action while 1997 AMA Supercross Series champion Jeff Emig provides the color commentary.  Erin Bates, form Amp’d Mobile Supercross live event announcer, brings the podium interviews.  The trio will call all the action from Phoenix on both CBS and SPEED.
