Blown Motor Steals Best Finish of the Season From CC Rider Solitaire Racing's Antonio Balbi

Balbi Running in Sixth Place Started to Fail

Rolesville, North Carolina - CC Rider Soltaire Racing's Antonio Balbi caught another tough break this weekend at Washougal MX Park in Washougal, Washington. With a great start, Balbi was running at the front in third in the second Moto and led Chad Reed early in the race. He had settled into 7th place but then made the pass for 6th. About 25 minutes into the race his motor started to lose power and riders began passing him back, the motor gave out shortly after that. Balbi is currently in 18th place overall in the series. He finished the first Moto in 12th place after working his way up from a bad start.

"This was a tough break for Antonio, he clearly had the speed and stamina to finish the race inside the top ten. To his credit he has demonstrated the attitude that we want to see in our riders. Despite mishaps and crashes he has shown that he is Branded Not to Quit. We are expecting to see solid results in the last few rounds," stated Mike Bartholomew, co-owner of the team and company.

"The blown motor was unfortunate but my performance before that is what I am focused on. I felt comfortable riding at the pace of the frontrunners. We made some significant changes to the suspension before the race which made a big difference for me. Prior to this I was struggling with the way the bike handled. I am looking forward to the next race and running at the front again," commented Antonio Balbi.

The team's next race will be August 15, 2009 at Unadilla in New Berlin, New York.
