Blazusiak Returns to the Top of the Podium at Ohio EnduroCross

Dietrich takes over the points lead after Huffman misses the main

Columbus, OH. (October 4, 2008) Taddy Blazusiak returned to the top of the podium at the AMA Maxxis EnduroCross tonight in Columbus Ohio . After winning the opening round in Las Vegas , he suffered a serious injury that had him in the hospital for several days and forced him to miss the Oklahoma and South Carolina events. He returned to the podium in Denver last week with a third place finish and then moved back to the top after a great battle with Geoff Aaron. Aaron, riding his Red Bull/BTOsports.com backed Christini all wheel drive motorcycle was smooth and consistent and he passed Blazusiak just before the white flag. Taddy pushed his way back into the lead before the final lap but the Polish rider could not shake his fellow KTM rider and Aaron pushed him all the way to the finish, showing him a wheel as they entered the final turn.

Team Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ricky Dietrich led the early laps and held on for the final

podium position to take back the championship points lead from his teammate Damon Huffman. Just when it seemed that Huffman was taking control of the series after winning the last two rounds, he proved just how unpredictable EnduroCross can be by not making the main event. His night started with a dislocated finger from a fall in one of the rock sections. Huffman had one of the medics pop it back into place and rode both the Semi and Last Chance qualifiers but failed to transfer to the main event.

Team Red Bull KTM’s Mike Brown, the recently converted motocross rider rode his second EnduroCross event and finished a solid forth place ahead of Lucas Oil backed Colton Haaker, who has finished no worse than 6th position all season. Haaker’s consistency puts him in third place in the points behind Dietrich and Huffman and just ahead of Blazusiak and Zip Ty Racing’s Nick Brozovich. Aaron, who has finished second three times this season, is a close sixth. Aaron’s season was ruined by missing the main at the Oklahoma event.

The AMA/Maxxis EnduroCross presented by Lucas Oil will head back to its roots of Las Vegas for the final round on November 22nd. Although Dietrich has a ten point lead, no lead is safe in EnduroCross and you can count on exciting racing throughout the event. Make sure you make plans to see it in person or even compete in one of the four support classes, which race their main events during the night program in front of the packed arena.
