Ben Townley Confirmed to Race US Grand Prix at Glen Helen Raceway

US Grand Prix - San Bernardino, CA


Troy Lee Designs / Lucas Oil / Honda rider Ben Townley has
confirmed that he will line up for the GP at Glen Helen just one week
away. The former world champion and 250 supercross champion counts many
of the GP riders and regulars as good friends. Ben spent the first part
of his professional career touring the GP circuits before heading to
America to chase AMA championships.



"I love the GP's," Ben explained enthusiastically. "Some of my best
friends are over there racing that series and I was really looking
forward to competing in the first few rounds this year. Unfortunately
that didn't work out but I was pumped when I heard that they were
bringing a round to America. I really enjoy the track at Glen Helen and I
knew straight away that I was going to race it if I felt like I was
ready. I'm really looking forward to it."



Glen Helen Raceway has made some significant changes to its facilities
in the past weeks in lieu of a close call involving Townley himself. The
world renowned facility has added flaggers for its popular open
practice on Thursdays.
In addition to that they have added two 40-minute sessions for pros
only at 10:30 and 12:30 on Thursdays. The
course itself is being reworked for the GP and, as always, will prove to
be one of the most demanding tracks anywhere on the planet when the GP
riders show up next weekend.
