Bel-Ray Racing-Weekend Wrap-Up

FARMINGDALE, NJ – July 18th, 2011 –
Bel-Ray Company, Inc.  – Bel-Ray Racing-Weekend Wrap-Up

This past weekend proved to quite exciting for Bel-Ray’s professional racing teams.

Coming
into the AMA National at Spring Creek MX Park National in Millville,
Minnesota TwoTwo Motorsports / Bel-Ray Racing’s Chad Reed held a 16
point lead over series
rival Ryan Villopoto. Reed convincingly won the first moto and was set
to do the same in moto #2, when disaster struck. In what has been
described as the crash of the season, Reed was ejected from his bike
nearly 30 feet in the air. He got to his feet and
although beaten and bruised, Reed showed the heart of a champion and
soldiered back from dead last to take 14th by the end of the
moto, salvaging valuable championship points. Reed’s determination
allowed him to maintain the points lead going into
next weekend in Washougal, WA.

Tech3
Moto2 team racer Bradley Smith came into Germany with the momentum of 3
consecutive podium finishes. Smith would start the race from the third
row and while making
his move on the pack, Smith was forced off the racing line and into the
gravel trap when he was going into the first turn. Smith was quick to
rejoin the racing action, but had to do battle from the back of the
field. Using all of his skills, Smith was able
to put on a charge through the field and up into 17th place
by lap 16. While diving into Turn 3, Smith lost the front end and went
down. He was unable to get his bike running again and was forced out of
the race. It was his first DNF of the season.
Smith’s misfortune pushed him back to 5th in the overall points standings. Teammate Mike DiMeglio also had a difficult weekend and was only able to manage a 16th by the end of the race. The series returns to action in the Czech Republic
on August 14th.

TM
Factory Racing rider Tanel Leok recovered from a rough weekend in
Germany the week before and rebounded with 12-7 moto finishes for 10th overall in Latvia.
Leok’s fine race moved him up to 12th overall season’s
point’s standings. Teammate Petr Smitka made his return to racing after
time off due to injury. Smitka used 24-17 moto finishes on his way to 20th overall. The series will enjoy a
2 week break before racing resumes in Belgium July 31.

Round 5 of the CMRC National Championship
series came to Gopher Dunes in Tillsonburg, Ontario this past weekend.
The Kini / Red Bull / KTM / IMX / Bel-Ray Racing team of Kieran Leigh
and Mason Phillips were both in action. Phillips
used 19-12 moto finishes to an 11th overall, while Leigh used 7-8 moto scores to finish 7th overall. Phillips is currently in 9th and Leigh is in 7th in the overall standings as the series head to the Circuit de
Ste-Julie in Quebec this upcoming weekend.

FMX
Star Blake “Bilko” Williams had a great performance at this weekend's
Red Bull X-Fighters Event in Madrid, Spain. The newly signed member of
Bel-Ray’s professional
support program was second overall in this prestigious event.
