Bel-Ray Race Report- Seattle Supercross Wrap-Up‏

Round 15 of The Monster Energy Supercross
series took place on Saturday night at Qwest Field in Seattle,
Washington. With the 2011 series drawing to a close, the Bel-Ray backed
race teams were prepared for action.

Rains leading up to the event meant a difficult
and challenging track was in store for the Supercross racers. The timed
qualifying section of the event program was shortened to allow time for
extra track preparation.  TwoTwo Motorsports / Bel-Ray Racing’s Chad
Reed set the 6th fastest time in the evening’s qualifying with a 52.931
lap time, while Dodge / Hart and Huntington / Bel-Ray Racing teammates,
Chris Blose and Ivan Tedesco were 14th and 15th with 54.934 and 55.198
respective lap times.

All three racers qualified directly to the main event out if their heat race, with Blose finishing 6th and Reed 7th in heat race #1, while Tedesco was 5th in heat race #2. All three racers have made every
main event, quite a feat in this exceptional season.

Tedesco again got a fantastic start and was the
winner of the Nuclear Cowboyz holeshot award. Reed too got a good start
and grabbed the early lead from Tedesco. Reed would battle series’
rival, James Stewart, but when Stewart passed him, Reed settled into
second place. Riding a consistent main event, Reed held second until
just 2 laps from the of end. Getting cross-rutted in a rhythm section,
he went over the bars in a spectacular crash. He was quickly back up
and under way, but Kevin Windham got past the Two Two Motorsports’
rider. Additionally, series points leader, Ryan Villopoto, was now
right on Reed’s back fender, challenging him for the final spot in the
podium. In a 2 lap drag race, Villopoto and Reed battled each other
with Reed holding off a charging Villopoto for third place. Riding
injured, Tedesco held on for 14th and Blose, injured as well, finished  19th.

With his podium finish, Reed surpassed
Supercross legend, Jeremy McGrath to take the lead on the all-time
Supercross podium list.

With only 2 rounds left, Reed is in 2nd in
the points standings, just 6 points behind the series leader,
Villopoto. Tedesco is in 10th and Blose is in 14th.

The Supercross series will take its first weekend off since
the series started in January, but returns to action in Salt Lake City
on April 30th.
