Payson, UT (Mar. 20, 2017) –It was a hot night for Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS as round 11 of the Monster Energy Supercross series stopped in the racing town of Indianapolis and the Lucas Oil Stadium. While outside it was cold, the team was on fire inside as Blake Baggett finished 4th, Davi Millsaps stayed close for 6th and Dakota Alix stepped in on the 250 for a 12th place ride.

Rider Reports

Blake Baggett: 4th Place (450SX)

After a solid week of testing, Blake Baggett came into Indy refreshed and laid down the 5th fastest qualifying time of the day. Carrying that speed into the night, Blake nailed the start and took the lead of his heat race. He slid back a few spots, finishing in 3rd right behind his teammate and directly transferring to the main event.

Confident with his gate choice, Blake flew out of the gate for the main event, leading the field into the first turn and earning the main event holeshot. He led the field for the first few laps of the race before sliding back to 3rd. Blake looked to have another podium ride set before going down about the midpoint of the race. Losing only one position, he rejoined the race and held on to finish 4th at the checkered flag.

“I felt good tonight,” said Blake. “I am getting the starts I need, and it felt good to get the holeshot in the main. Unfortunately, a little mistake cost me a podium. I feel confident on the bike, and the team is working hard. I’m looking forward to Detroit and getting a podium.”

Davi Millsaps: 6th Place (450SX)

Davi Millsaps felt solid on the Indianapolis track, posting the 9th fastest qualifying time of the day. In his heat, Davi put himself into the lead, passing his teammate at the end of lap one. He held on the lead until the last lap, sliding back one spot to Marvin Musquin to finish 2nd.

As the gate dropped on the main event, Millsaps powered down the start straight and rounded the first turn inside the top five. He rode steady all race. Holding off the charge from riders behind him, Davi finished the night in 6th place.

“It was a solid night,” said Davi. “We have been working hard, and it is starting to pay off. I am feeling good out there, and I am ready to break into the top five next weekend in Detroit.”

Dakota Alix: 12th Place (250SX)

With Benny Bloss still recovering from his shoulder injury, Dakota Alix filled the void on the team left by Benny for the rest of the 250SX East series. It didn’t take Dakota very long to get used to the Team RMATVMC race bike, as he rode to a 4th place finish in his heat race.

The talented young man continued to impress in the main event with a start inside the top five. His race was going well, battling inside the top ten until going down in a rhythm section late in the race. He remounted and charged back to a 12th place finish.

Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS now heads to Ford Field in Detroit, MI, for round 12 of the 2017 Monster Energy Supercross series.
