Andrew Short Scores Another Top 5 At Washougal | Race Report

Washougal, WA (July 27, 2014) – The BTO Sports-KTM-WPS race headed for the Pacific Northwest for the ninth round of the 2014 AMA Pro Motocross Championship at the beautiful Washougal MX Park. Team rider Andrew Short would ride strong for another top 5 weekend and Matt Goerke continued his string of strong rides this season.

Andrew Short would use practice to fine tune his lines on the Washougal track, posting the 15th  fastest time of the day. He used that knowledge in Moto 1, using the power of his KTM Factory Services motor to round the first turn in the top three. From there Short would battle tough, and by the checkered flag finish in 6th .

Moto 2 saw Short take advantage of his Pirelli Scorpion MX tires, giving him traction out of the gate to round the first turn again in 3rd place. Short would race strong up at the front of the pack and by the checkered flag finish in 5th place. His 6-5 score on the day would net his third 5th place overall of the season and moves him up to 7th place in the Championship points.

“It was a good day for me” Short said of his race. “I started up front this weekend and that’s the difference. I am looking forward to bringing this momentum in to Unadilla.”

Matt Goerke came in to Washougal ready to do battle, as he posted the 18th fastest time of the day. Moto 1, Matt would start deep in the middle of the pack and used his WP Factory Services Suspension to gain control of the rough track, finishing 12th by the end of the moto.

In moto 2 Matt would get a better jump off the gate and round the first turn inside the top ten. He would race strong all moto long. He would cross the checkered flag in 17th position. His 12-17 score would give him 14th overall on the day and continues to move forward in the Championship points to 13th.

The BTO Sports-KTM-WPS race team takes a week off before heading to rd. 10 of the 2014 Pro Motocross Championship at Unadilla MX in New Berlin, NY.
