AMA Qualifier Coming to Muddy Creek

Blountville, Tenn.  The 2009 AIR NAUTIQUES/AMA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP brings the motocross racing world to Loretta Lynn’s Ranch the first week on August every year. Riders can only get there by invitation through the qualifying process. This weekend’s qualifier will have riders from over 15 states coming to Muddy Creek Raceway competing for one of the TOP 7 QUALIFYING POSITIONS. From this event several riders will go on to win amateur national titles.  Some current national champions will also be on hand as they have to re-qualify every year. 

This event is also an AMA PRO-AM Point Paying event which will additionally draw riders from across the country as they are trying to earn valuable pro-am points so they can compete in the AMA PRO NATIONAL MOTOCROSS events.

This weekend FRIDAY is practice day 9:30am til 3:30pm. Saturday is racing for the A Classes, Women, Stock Classes, plus 5 Unlimited Classes for Modified bikes.   Sunday is racing for the Pro Sport Classes, the Age Classes, and the Modified Classes. Sunday’s race is also a round of the THOR MEGA SERIES presented by DUNLOP. Saturday & Sunday practice starts at 8:00am with racing to get started at 9:30.

About the Air Nautiques/AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships:

The MX Sports produced event is the world's largest amateur motocross race. Hosted annually since 1982 at the home of country music star Loretta Lynn in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, the event is the premier amateur motocross race in the world. In 2007, over 25,000 entries attempted to qualify in 33 classes for the 1386 available gates at the national. In 2009 the National event, christened the world's greatest motocross vacation, will be held August 3rd through August 8th. As proof of the significance of winning an AMA Amateur National Championship Title, most of today's top motocross and supercross stars, including Ricky Carmichael, James Stewart, and Ryan Villopoto, won championships at Loretta Lynn's before turning pro. About the THOR MEGA SERIES: The THOR UNITED STATES MEGA Series presented by DUNLOP is a 16 race motocross series that runs in Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. The AMA sanctioned series starts the first of March and runs through the middle of October. The series offers 40 different classes of racing, 4 year old pee wees, to beginner classes, to 50 + senior men, to the pros.
