Press Release

AMA Pro-Am Points Race to Muddy Creek Raceway

Blountville, TN.  The final step to becoming an AMA PROFESSIONAL RIDER is collecting enough Pro-Am Points to get your pro license.  Sunday, May 2, Muddy Creek  Raceway  is hosting one of the few AMA Sanctioned events that pay Pro-Am points.

The next wave of up and coming pro riders drive coast to coast across the nation seeking these valuable points.  For this event last year both the Pro-Am classes were full gates and qualifiers had to be run to narrow the field down to 40 riders.  North Carolina’s Taylor Futrell was on fire and won both pro classes over Pennsylvania’s Mike McDade.  Pro-Am riders were there from 16 different states, the longest distance away being Oregon,  New York, Texas and Iowa.

The event is also round #4 of the 2010 THOR MEGA Series presented by DUNLOP.  Johnson City’s Adam Britt is currently leading the Mega Series points in both the pro classes, but its early in the year and there is a long way to go.  It would be a major accomplishment in his career to win a Mega Series pro Championship.  He has his “A” game going on this spring and is faster than ever.  Spectators can expect some great racing in the amateur and pro classes.

The weekend will offer a “test & tune” practice day on Friday, then racing Saturday and Sunday.
About the THOR MEGA SERIES:  The THOR UNITED STATES MEGA Series is an 18 race motocross series that runs in TN, KY, VA, NC, PA, SC, and GA.  The AMA sanctioned series starts the first of March and runs through the middle of October.  The series offers 39 different classes of QUAD ATV and MOTORCYCLE racing.  Riders range from 4 year old peewees, to beginners classes, to 50+  senior men, to the pros.
