AMA Arenacross Series Posts Reputable Figures for 2011 Season

AURORA, Ill
(May 26, 2011)
– As the 2011 AMA Arenacross Series came to an official
close April 9, the sport watched Babbitt’s Monster Energy/TiLUBE
Kawasaki presented by Maxxis’ Tyler Bowers race to a near-perfect
season with 12 wins to earn his first Arenacross class championship.
Fans also witnessed TUF Honda-supported rider Vicki Golden make history
as she became the first female in the sport’s 27-year history to
qualify for an Arenacross Lites class main event, and in doing so
finished within the top 10.

Throughout the 2011 season, the AMA Arenacross Series drew over 170,000 fans, averaging 12,200 fans per race.

On
the television side, SPEED TV will broadcast 26 hours of AMA Arenacross
Series action, with 13 one-hour segments and 13-repeat broadcasts. In
addition to the racing action, each broadcast brings fans behind the
scenes as well as showcases the current and rising stars of the sport.

With the expanding realm of digital and social media platforms, www.arenacross.com
received nearly 500,000 page views from early fall to present, boasting
a 17% increase from the prior season. The AMA Arenacross Series
Facebook fan page currently has almost 20,000 “likes”, which is a 220%
increase from the previous season. Arenacross’ YouTube video database
has also yielded record-high numbers, receiving nearly 150,000 views
from early fall to present.

Golden’s
entrance into the world of an all-male dominated sport attracted
attention from some of the major media platforms, including the Associated Press, USA Today, ESPN.com, Sports Illustrated, Washington Post,
as well as the industry’s top publications such as Racer X, Transworld,
and MotorcycleUSA. Throughout the 2011 season, the AMA Arenacross
Series generated over 280 highlights on local TV programs and 124
print/web features within local markets.

The
second annual Amateur National Arenacross Championship (ANAC) took
place on May 8 with its debut from Las Vegas’ South Point Hotel &
Casino’s state-of-the-art South Point Arena. A total of 120 of the
nation’s fastest amateur riders from four different regions of the
country, divided into 24 classes, battled one another for a shot at an
AMA National title. Overall, 23 riders walked away with this notable
honor of being crowned an AMA National champion.

“It
was a great season from start to finish,” said Jayme Dalsing, AMA
Arenacross Series director. “We saw both veterans and young guns taking
wins and making runs at the title this year. On the year we had five
different winners which was great for competition but in the end it was
20-year old Tyler Bowers that showed his dominance in Arenacross.”
