AMA Arenacross Comes to Des Moines’ Wells Fargo Arena This Weekend

Prequel Race Will Set Tone for an 2009 Exciting Regular Season

AURORA, Ill. (November 4, 2008) – With some of the most talented young riders and seasoned veterans in tow, AMA Arenacross returns for its annual race from Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa this weekend (November 7-9), on Friday and Saturday night. The traditional amateur day will take place on Sunday.


The Des Moines race is a stand-alone race and not part of the 2009 AMA Arenacross Series.


A series staple and one of the most popular arenacross stops for many years, the race at Wells Fargo Arena will serve as a non-points paying prequel to the upcoming 2009 season, the 25th year of exciting action for the AMA Arenacross Series.


Last year in Des Moines, two-time AMA Arenacross Series Champion Josh Demuth captured the win on Friday, but was unable to carry the momentum into Saturday, where he finished fifth. Eventual 2008 series champion Chad Johnson backed up his runner-up finish from Friday with an impressive victory on Saturday.


In the Arenacross Lites class, Michael McDade and Nathan Skaggs took the wins on Friday and Saturday night, respectively.


For the past three seasons, the individual standing atop the podium for the overall victory inside Wells Fargo Arena has gone on to win the AMA Arenacross Series title.
