2008 FIM Motocross World Champion TV Coverage

FUNCHAL, 21 March 2008 – The forthcoming 2008 FIM Motocross World Championship season, to start with the Grand Prix of the Netherlands at Valkenswaard on April 6th, will benefit from a larger television coverage. The well established partners of the series such as Supersport, Sport Italia, TV New Zealand, Bandsports, Eurosport 2  and news agency SNTV, all having renewed their partnership until at least 2010, have been joined by new broadcasters.


Building on the well established television coverage which saw dramatic improvements by the end of the 2007 season, such as the 11,8 % increase in the number of broadcast hours (901 hours*), the 12,82% increase on the total cumulative audience (694 million spectators*) and the 14,32% improvement on the Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations’ cumulative audience (64.776.924 viewers*), Youthstream welcomes a new wave of broadcasters for 2008.


Motors TV, having secured the FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship LIVE coverage for the next two years, will also broadcast the MX1 Grand Prix’s later in the week and the FIM Red Bull Motocross of Nations delayed. Motors TV will reach 79 territories and 15 million subscribing homes, with the co-commentary of Motocross Champions such as Frederic Bolley, Yves Demaria and Mickael Pichon.


Estonian Kalev Sport, a digital free to air and cable TV channel; Sport TV from Slovenia, reaching more than 50% of the national households; TV4 Sweden, a digital terrestrial and cable/sat channel, will also enter the large group of the FIM Motocross World Championship broadcasters which will expand also to Indonesia -through the terrestrial channel Trans7 for live and delayed coverage- and Thailand – through True Visions.
