Team USA MXoN Modifications 2

Nope, there's no change to the lineup of Ryan Dungey, Trey Canard, and Andrew Short...but we thought you'd like a peek at what goes into dialing in the bikes for the MXoN.

The biggest change is the use of FIM spec unleaded fuel. That requires different mapping for the EFI's ECU. Below, Honda Red Bull Racing's Dan Betley uploads a new map to Andrew Short's bike.

With lower db rating used for the FIM sound requirements, Trey Canard's GEICO Powersports Honda gets a slightly longer muffler (about an inch longer), that also has different internals.

The bulk of the engine setup remains the same, though you might see some additions like the Team USA clutch cover on Ryan Dungey's Rockstar Makita Suzuki.

What else? Well, the use of exotic bits like titanium axles are a no-no, so stock OE axles replace the lightweight goodies. Also, with so much on the line in the two motos, the GEICO Powersports Honda crew were talking about changing up Trey Canard's front tire setup to use a mousse rather than a front inner tube.

Also, FIM rules mandate the use of a countershaft cover, so while it's rare to find them in the pits at an Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship race, the Team USA bikes (and the rest of them) will be found with these at Thunder Valley.
