Fantasy Supercross Leagues

If you’re a sports fans you’ve probably noted the popularity of fantasy leagues for football, baseball, and other ball and stick sports. It’s just one additional way to have fun with the sport, and all from the comfort of the seat in front of you computer.

We’ve played along for several fantasy seasons, and had the directors at two different fantasy leagues give us a quick look at the specs on their respective platforms.

Don’t forget to sign up ASAP, or you’ll miss out on the action for the Supercross seasons…and be sure to check out our Vital MX Pit Bits each afternoon for fantasy tips.

Why should I play fantasy motocross or Supercross?

MotoXDream's Fantasy Racing Series give fans a connection to the races they've never experienced before. You feel like you are part of it, not just a spectator. Fantasy Series Team Managers have a much better grip on who is out on the field, and that provides players with a better overall race experience whether they're watching it in person, on TV, or listening to a webcast. Our Team Managers can divorce themselves from the often boring runaway at the front of the pack, and focus on their "B" Team riders that are working their way through the pack where the competition is still alive and kickin'.

MotoXDream's "Friends Division" option lets players create a private division, give it a name, and compete their your buddies head-to-head for braggin' rights or ...??? Talk about getting hooked, who doesn't want to have smack talking rights amongst their buddies? The best part is, MotoXDream keeps track of all the weekly and overall points, just like we do for our regular Prize Divisions, so Team Managers can easily tell who dominates.

Fantasy Leagues are fun for everyone and it keeps you more in touch with the sport that you love.  You get to act like a factory team manager for the season just like Mitch Payton or Roger DeCoster.  Now, anyone can hire James Stewart, Chad Reed or any other rider out there.

How does your league work?

MotoXDream allows Team Managers to hire 8 riders per week. Each player will hire 4 "Premier" riders and 4 "Lites" riders weekly. Managers earn Fantasy Series Points based on how those riders finish at each weekends event.

We also have some unique twists to keep MotoXDream Fantasy Racing interesting... First off is our "Hot List". Each weekend we mark a number of riders to be HOT. These guys could be a Team Manager's "Ace in the Hole". If you hire these riders, they could earn Double Points by finishing inside of the Top10 at that particular event. Our second twist is Handicapping, and this adds even more options when hiring riders.

Handicapping stimulates Team Managers into hiring riders that would not normally get hired (back of the pack racers), and keeps our Managers more in-touch with the sport. Riders with a Handicap are automatically advanced a number of positions after the final results. This gives riders a 'virtual' finishing position and earns Team Managers extra points for that event. MotoXDream's HOT riders who end up with a Top10 finish after their Handicaps are scored as Double Points which makes it even more interesting.

FRC uses a Salary system where each rider is assigned a fantasy salary based on previous results and abilities.  Each team manager is provided with a $1 Million fantasy budget to hire up to five riders for their team.  These riders can be changed throughout the season as long as their riders total salary stays under the budget.  FRC also gives each team a bonus pick each week so that they can hire Privateer riders.  All six riders will then be given points after each race based on how well they actually performed and your team's score is accumulated to find the overall winner.

What kind of prizes are there?

In 2008 we'll be giving away at least two 250F Four Strokes, and nearly $30,000 in additional Weekly and Overall Prize Packages. Giving away killer swag is nothing new here at MXD, in fact we've given away 7 motorcycles, 2 trips to the MXoN, and roughly $80,000 worth of moto goods just since 2006 alone! Since MotoXDream's beginning way back in the late '90's, we've always had incredible prizes. There's a list of stuff we've given away on our "About/How-to-Play" page that even blows my mind at times.

The grand prize in the 2008 Fantasy Supercross League is the hot, new fuel-injected Suzuki RM-Z450.  The team with the most points at the end of the season wins the new Suzuki.  Other prizes include an XBox 360 and Playstation 3 from THQ, No Fear Riding Gear, and prize packages from Renthal, OGIO, Mechanixwear and Suzuki Accessories.

Everyone who signs up gets free subscriptions to Transworld MX Magazine and Cycle News Online Edition.

How much does it cost, and how do I join?

We operate Fantasy Series that range from FREE to $25, it really just depends on the magnitude of the Series. For 2008 Supercross, we've got a few different Fantasy Series options ranging from $9.95 to $25.

This year we even have a few Fantasy Series that start mid-way, so players who miss a few rounds won't be left out of the action.

Anyone can sign up to be an FRC member for free by going to www.FantasyRacer.com.  The 2008 Fantasy Supercross League is $24.95 for the first team and $9.95 for each additional team.

Sign-ups are open now, the first event is the legendary Anaheim SX, and rider selection lockout is 7:00pm the night of the race. Oh, and did I mention that you better stock up on tearoffs, 'cause I'm ready to smoke the boys on the Fantasy Circuit this season... lol.

In addition, if anyone from Vital MX wants to sign up, we’ve created a coupon code that will allow participants to play the VitalMX division for FREE (that’s a non-prize division) or to play the regular league PLUS the VitalMX Division for $20 (which saves them $5 off the regular price).

The code is "vital".
