Marsack's March to the Front

Jake Marsack.

One of the most impressive rides on Saturday night at Daytona belonged to Team Bad Boy’s Jake Marsack, who finished third after stopping on the first lap to get a new pair of goggles. That meant he started at the tail end of the field.

So how did he go from 21st to 3rd? Well, he did mention goggle prep as being important, and we know that his dad is pretty meticulous on the bike prep side. But a chunk of it was purely vision management. “I just started picking them off one-by-one. I’d find out where people were going in the mudholes and if I hit a mudhole, I wouldn’t go there again. I took off my goggles, it was maybe the seventh lap in, and once I’d catch a guy I’d get by him as soon as possible. I’d take a chance and jump by him, because if you got in those mudholes and got splashed, you wouldn’t be able to see.”

Vital MotocrossCheck out Shane Sewell filling in (we think) Billy Payne. That's the hazard of following in conditions like this.
