The rookie privateers will substitute for the injured Gracyk and Summey
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (August 27, 2008) – Ben Lamay, in only his third race as a professional, and Sean Borkenhagen, a rookie on the circuit, will race for the SPIKE Hardcore Energy/Toyota/Yamaha/JGRMX Team during the last round of the AMA Toyota National Motocross Championship Series presented by FMF. The event will be held on Saturday, August 30, at Steel City Raceway, in Export, Pa.
Gavin Gracyk and Josh Summey, the team’s primary riders are both injured. Gracyk fell while practicing last week and is nursing a sore midsection, and Josh Summey crashed on the first lap of the race last Sunday at Southwick, Mass., injuring his shoulder. Both riders are expected to be able start training and riding again soon.
“We had a situation where our team wants to race but it’s not safe for our riders to compete right now. Rather than not race, we decided to give these young up and coming privateers a chance to ride out of our semi on our Yamaha YZ450Fs with a full team of experts backing them up,” said Jeremy Albrecht, the team manager. “I am so stoked to be riding for the Gibbs team at Steel City,” said Ben Lamay. “I am very excited to ride a factory bike, and am grateful that they are letting me be part of the team for the weekend.” Sean Borkenhagen said simply, “I really appreciate the opportunity that JGRMX is giving me.”
JGRMX is sponsored by SPIKE Hardcore Energy, Toyota, Yamaha, Yamalube, Renthal, N-Style, Oakley, Troy Lee Designs, Bridgestone, Etnies, Boost Mobile, Filtron, Pro Circuit, Cycra, Hinson Clutch Components, and Renton Coil Spring.
