You have to be excited for a guy like Torco Racing Fuel Honda's Trey Canard, who scored his first Supercross Lites main event win in his first try. After the race, we caught up to him as he was enjoying a celebratory peanut butter and jelly sandwich, to find out more about his win.

“Man, I’m excited. I tried to go through the day like it was just another day and just gave my best. I didn’t really have any expectations, just to go out there and do the best that I could, and that’s what I did.”

Regarding his nerves, he said, “I wasn’t too bad until practice two. I had some ignition issues and about crashed a couple times bogging on the face of a jump. But with everyone behind me, they got everything ironed out, and good for the main.”

“I was a lot more nervous before the heat race than I was for the main. I didn’t know what to expect for the first heat race, and the main was kind of a blur for me right now. It was good, though.”

“My dad passed away in 2003 on May 6th. Ever since then I’ve been working and trying to do my best for him. I know he’s here today and I hope I made him proud. Me and my trainer, Greg, and even my riding coach, Shannon, we’ve been doing it for him. I’d like to keep it going.”

“Nothing’s changed. My goal for the season is to give 200%, be prepared, and get good starts. It’s not winning, it’s not having the fastest lap time, it’s simply doing my best. That’s all I can do and try and let the cards fall into place.”
