4/10/2008 9:37 PM Yes, There are two MX tracks there. One nice one and one easy one. I haven't been there in about 5-6 years, but I've heard it's still a fun place to ride...I thought the trails sucked, and the sand dunes got boring fairly quick.... However, I guess they have bought a bunch more land so It's changed up quite a bit since I've been there.. Any dates in mind?

4/19/2008 2:44 AM Man we ride year round. Why wait until it gets warm? I think it's better riding in the dead of Winter than it is the dead of summer around here. Especially last year it was so hot and dry and dusty! If our club is too wet to ride we usually go down to Flat River (St Joes State Park in Missouri). I try to ride at least 2 weekends a month. All woods.

4/21/2008 3:18 AM No I don't know Link but I have a couple of buddies who might. Actually one of them owns about 50 acres down there and you can ride to the trails from his place. It's about an hour west of St Joe's but not sure of the exact location (I didn't drive when we went). I believe we rode through or near the Sutton's Bluff area.
St Joe's is great if you stay off the trails. A kid got killed down there 3 or 4 weeks ago when we were there. Seems that happens about once a year down there. We also go to Land Between the Lakes (Turkey Bay) in Kentucky a couple of times a year. The gang is actually going down next weekend but my boy has a school event so we're not going to be able to make it. Actually we might go down and just ride Saturday and come back Saturday night so he can make his event on Sunday. I'm Void Main and I approve this message. |

4/22/2008 4:13 AM When is your next Turkey Bay run? You wouldn't happen to go to Colorado too would you? We're leaving for Colorado on July 4th. It will be my 3rd trip ('04, '06, and now in '08). Broke my ankle out there on the '06 trip on the 2nd day.

4/22/2008 4:52 PM We ride a lot of the same stuff they ride in the Colorado 500. In fact the Colorado 500 was going on last time we were out there and had the gas pump and restaurant tied up at Taylor Park Reservoir for hours. It's in the Gunnison national forest. It's about an hour (maybe a little more) on the other side of Colorado Springs in the fourteeners. We rent a cabin (house) in a little town called Alpine at 9,500 feet. That's the lowest point of our riding which ranged all the way up to over 14,000 feet up on Mt Antero. We probably average over 100 miles of riding a day and we take one day to ride to Aspen which is 140 miles round trip. It's just the most beautiful riding I've ever done. I'll send you an email with a link to some pictures of our trips. St Elmo, Tincup and Pitkin are a few of the close little towns that we ride through often while we are there. We will probably be going to Turkey Bay before October for the second trip. I think that's a little late for us, but we won't know until it gets closer to time to go.

I'm game!!! When are we going????? Are you healed up yet?? Come on Midwest fools, Who's in??? No, still nursing the broken ribs, but I can run the grill!! I am hoping to be on a bike soon. I need to find a job first, right now I am uninsured!!! Bummer.
I live about 1/2 hour from there so anyone want to stay here they are welcome, I have a big empty house!!! If anyone has a spouse or kids I have an inground heated pool that they could use while we ride, I live alone except every other weekend I have my kids. We could do a Sat. night party Sunday ride. I know the place like the back of my hand so I can find stuff for all levels of skill. |
