So I bought a used CRF250R and the guy was running Bel-ray 80w-85 transmission gear saver oil in there and wanted to switch back to factory spec GN4 10w-40, is it okay to just do a change, worried a bit about the residual 80w-85 in there with the 10w-40, or am I overthinking it. Thanks in advance, especially Paw Paw as I'm sure he'll chime in.

You'll be fine. ive done it plenty of times with no ill effects. Especially since it's just the clutch and tranny. If it was the engine you might flush it with some fresh oil first but I wouldn't for the clutch.

Thanks, figured I was being paranoid. I'm a OCD maintenance freak with stuff, torque everything, etc. Thanks man.

"transmission" specific oil is rated different than motor/trans oil. So 85w transmission oil is pretty close to the same viscosity as 10w40.
