Calipers , quality torque wrench, flywheel puller if replacing cam chain, good pair of needle nose, quality gasket scraper and shim kit. That's my list besides the basic sockets etc.

A factory service manual. Recommended lubes, sealants, thread lockers etc.

Yea I really do need to buy a nice set of Mitutoyo calipers and two decent torque wrenches

Feeler Gauges, Good verniers (Mitutoyo), 3/8" torque wrench, service manual, Single hex 3/8" socket set, Paper workshop towels.

I'd make a little engine stand so you can work on the engine on a bench without it rolling around, can buy purpose built engine stands but they are $500 + can make a good enough one out of some flat bar and a welder that will be good enough if you aren't rebuilding engines everyday.

I would recommend a degree wheel, too. I don't trust my eye 100% for lining up timing marks and counting chain pins, so I use wheel to verify my timing before everything gets buttoned up. Also, copious amounts of Lucas Assembly lube on new components

A parts Washer and access to hot water to wash the solvent from everything, Cleaniness is Key to longevity.
