So I am looking to upgrade my YZ front brake master cylinder as the stock 08+ units are junk. I purchased a Honda master and a new unbreakable lever for 07+ hondas but come to find out the master I bought was the older style. So I have a brand new front brake lever for a 07+ honda so my first thought was to get the honda master but I cannot find one anywere, everything is the older style with the smaller lever. I have found a few KTM/brembo units so my question is which one would be better? any opinions?

Before you ask, I have an oversized rotor and braided steel lines on my YZ but still cannot get a comfortable feeling at the lever even after rebuilding the master...

I would definitely get a brembo unit. Obviously they are designed for the Brembo Calipers with have a higher volume and bigger piston diameters in most cases so they are usually a bigger piston design in the master cylinders. Well in the ones I've seen they are unsure about the newer stuff.

Check motostuff.com they sell crf master cylinders. I remember geico Honda ran brembo units on their bikes at one point.

Look through the mxa articles for ktms. The newer year models had a different master cylinder that softened the brakes. But only in the last few years.

Ended up buying a Brembo master off a 2015 sxf off Ebay. Anything is better than the stock unit on 08+

Let us know how it feels, I have a 2011 yz250 and would like to try brake options. Which do you think makes the biggest difference? Master cylinder, line, or Rotor?

In 2008 they made the front caliper "smaller and lighter". Some folks say this also made it more flexy and they swear they can feel the difference. I think you can slide the older caliper or a Honda caliper right onto the pins.

Yeah I have a few of the older calipers but never tried them with the different masters. I have an 05 125 and the brakes are decent but could be better. When I got my Honda master it came with a caliper and it bolted right up. Because it's obviously larger than the stock YZ caliper I just left it on.
