Picked this up for my grandson yesterday, and there is a metal plug in the crankcase breather hose. I've owned a ton of XR/CRF playbikes over the years in all sizes, and I never remember seeing that hose closed off.

The previous owner bought it new & his kid didn't ride it much at all, so I assume it came from the dealer this way.

Can anyone let me know why that plug is in, and if it should stay?

Thanks for any help...

Hmm, sounds like it should definitely be able to breathe... http://planetminis.com/forums/crf50/130728-crf50-crankcase-vent-questio…
Thanks for that. I know that my last ones were open, so I have no idea why Honda would deliver it with a plug held in place with a clamp. Maybe it's part of crating & should have been removed in prep.

Appreciate the link...

As I recall, the breather is actually a T setup like the bigger CRF's where it actually vents to the airbox and then has a split off hose running down by the left peg with a metal plug in it. This is a drain. Condensation and oil vapor will collect here. You just remove the plug if you see crap in the hose, clean it out, and then put the plug back in.

The guys who are running the vent open usually have some aftermarket air filter or airbox setup and have eliminated the stock components and routing.

Thanks for this. That would explain why it's a clear hose.
