Hello,

I wanted to ask if anyone has had clutch issues with the KX 250F. MXA mentioned the bike had a weak clutch and a couple of couple of local kids lost their clutch with around 15 hrs.

The oil (Rotella) was changed every 2 hours and the kid is light (120lbs).

If so what did anyone try stiffer springs? I have heard a lot of good things about the Rekluse manual torq drive.

My son is currently on a 125 but I may be picking up a KX 250f later this year and I was looking for some feedback.

Thanks!

You did not state which Rotella oil that is being used.
These clutches are very weak right out of the box, so yes heaver springs will in most cases be needed. Keep in mind that with the weaker springs in place the clutch friction places will wear very quickly, so I would suggest replacing them too when you put in the new springs so you will have a fresh start. I would also suggest checking the steel plates as well as when the fibers start slipping they create excess heat and can cause the steel plates to warp.

Shell Rotella T 15W 40 is what they were using.

On my 2-stroke I use the Honda 80/85 in the red bottle but that's not an option on the 4-stroke Kawi.

Stock clutch is not that bad, most people i know run 20+ hours.
The clutch destroyers i know put honda 450 clutch springs in the kx250f, works wel but clutch leever pulls harder.

May I suggest using Rotella T6 5w40.I use It in all my bikes and love how it performs. ( Not starting an oil debate.)

The second purchase I make for my Kawasaki, Pro Circuit clutch springs. Amazing feel and never a clutch issue.
1. Bars/Grips
2. Pro Circuit clutch springs
