Looking for some advice on troubleshooting a starting issue on my 2017 FC450. Occasionally (typically when I am out riding and the bike is warm) the bike just cranks and doesn’t start. I have notice that when it does start, the moment you hit the start button the lights on the map switch light up. When it doesn’t start, the lights never turn on.

I am guess there is a short somewhere or something electrical is failing, just haven’t been able to trace it down to the start button, the map switch, the kill switch or ??????

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

My 17 fc250 did the same. I put a wps battery in and no more hesitation. I am still gonna far a lithium battery charger to keep it fresh, because I suspect that these Austrian bikes don't juice up the battery enough on their own.

Thanks for the response. I finally had some time last night and did find some corrosion on the connector from the start button to the wiring harness behind the numbe plate. Not sure if this is it or not. The part that I still find puzzleing is he bike would crank but not start. So the button is working

Thanks again for suggestion.

Remember that the start button also starts the fuel pump. It can crank over the engine and not start the fuel pump.

my stock battery lasted 12 hours.

Went with the WPS bigger battery and battery box, has been fine ever since.

Thanks. I definitely think it’s battery. It only seems to have problem when the bike is warm.

Going to throw charger on this week and see if next ride is any better.

Anybody know if the ktm kit fits the Husqvarna subframe? I thought they where a little different.

Before you go to start the bike tap the starter for just a split second, you'll hear the fuel pump kick on for about 3 seconds then shut off. Wait until you hear the fuel pump shut off and press the starter normally. This will ensure you've got proper fuel pressure at the injector when starting.

Also may want to check your TPS, some bikes comes a bit lean from the factory and have trouble starting because of it.
