So today was the first race of the year for us in Newfoundland. I have 12.5 hours on my bike and never had a hitch. When I went out for my second practice the bike had started cutting power. I was holding it pinned and it started to stall out then picked back up again. I pulled off and came into the pits. When I had it on the stand I pulled the plug it was black. Put in a new plug and had trouble getting it started unless the throttle was full open. When it started it would run only when full throttle and loose power and come back again. I am running 60:1 mix and 2l of 110 mixed with 13l of pump. What are some things a could look for?

Sounds like it may be flooding. Check the float level and make sure the fuel float needle is sealing.

Maybe the air filter was over-oiled or dirty? Reeds break?

Yes, also check the reed valve, maybe reeds cracked off?

A bit of a longshot but check the bowl of your carb. I had this weird piece of metal in my 17 250SX that was causing the bike to cut out. No idea where it came from.

I've heard of that loose piece problem with a '16 250sx, unfortunately rider ended up with a broken leg when it cut out on a jump face.

definatly pull the carb open and check there is nothing in there and also try adjusting the float, like said above it could be flooding. i had that same problem. adjusted the float and we were good.

I have a 2017 KTM 125 and I was having the same problems. It ended up being the power valve not closing. KTM covered it and I had 13.6 hours on the bike.

Yep, had the same issue on mine. Go get yourself a Vforce 4R. Pretty shitty quality on KTM's part.

I had similar problems with my 2015 Husky 125. New V-force reeds fixed the problem. Make sure the carb is clean as well.

I sanded my reed block so that the reeds sat flat. It did start more easily and ran better at lower RPMs.

Do you normally run that fuel mix (110 and pump)? And what is your jetting?

The air leak on the reeds is deffinitly not going to help the bike run well but it won't foul your plugs. Either sand the block so they fit flush or get Vforce reeds. There's lots of info online about fixing the problem.

Gave my carb to the dealer owner and he just texted me that mine had a filing down in my float bowl as well.

Yeah, I still to this day have no idea where it came from. It was almost like a thin piece of tin.

Ok so I just put the bike together. Clean carb and v force installed. Still no start. What should I look at next?

Assume you're getting spark from the plug?
