Just curious if any one has run synthetic trans oil in their Yz. I ran mobile 1 in my sx 250 with no problems. I change it every ride. Some people are trying to tell me Yz will not shift good on synthetic. I'm having a hard time believing this. My clutch gets really hot on this thing. So I'd rather run synthetic.

Try Shell Rotella T6 5w40. You will love it.

I use shell rotella 15/40, you don't have problems with clutch slippage with any synthetic oils? That T6 is a synthetic oil, Pete I have to try that Spector oil

I don't use the 15w40 as it can make the clutch cause creep when not fully warmed up. The 5w40 does not do this and has the same shear rating as is wet clutch rated.

I run fully synthetic motorex top speed 4t in my Yz , all is good .

I won't touch any other oil brand after repeated compliments on how well my motors look inside the bottom end .

Change mine every 3 rides ... Usually lol

ATF type F.
Red Line Superlight Shockproof gear oil when I want the best.

That said, over the last 30 years I've tried almost everything in a 2 stroke's transmission. PTO fluid, synthetic ATF, Dextron, 10w-40, 15w-50, straight 30w, Maxima, Red Line MTF, Yamaha trans oil, Honda trans oil, Rotella, etc, etc, etc.

While I have found the occasional bike over the years that seems to prefer a specific type of fluid, the Type F works great, is cheap, and is readily available. Shifts are good, clutch is smooth, bearings and gears last a long time. The Red Line Shockproof stuff is dumb expensive, but protects super well, and helps recalcitrant transmissions behave better. A bit of a pain when splitting cases as it "sticks" to everything, but that's the nature of that product.

I run Pro Honda Hp trans oil. Kind of on the expensive side but I have never heard a bad review for it and it works great in my bikes.

I just wanted to hear from people who have tried synthetic oil. I've used atf to cheap car oil through the years and never had a problem. Ran Mobil non synthetic in my last Yz for two years with out any problems. I change it every ride. Guess I'll just try synthetic and see how it goes.

The redline superlight shockproof is the best oil out there. I have ran it in all of my two strokes from my TMR 112 to my full done yz250.

Maxima sells a transmission oil that is designed for motocross bikes. It's called mtlr 80 weight clutch saver or something like that. it's all I've ever run in my YZ and my clutches seem to hold up really well FWIW.

Do you think the 5w40 is thick enough for a 2013 250sx?? I never like to use rotella because I hear it is to high in detergancy for the coating ktm uses of the inner cases and stuff like that, any truth????
