You have to pull the drum, forks and gear sets out all together and drop them back in the same way. It's a pain the first time, but it becomes easier after you figure out how to juggle each piece into it's place while holding it all together.

Putting it back in the case while trying to keep it all together definitely sucks!

it is much more durable than the bubble gum zook trannys, and the parts will seem free after buying zook parts , but yes take the 12mm out w a deep socket and slide the unit out together, its not as abad as it seems

Yamahas are always a pain because of this.

But yes, like mentioned you have to "assemble" the whole transmission on the bench and then slide it in. Everything has to come in and out together.

I have found that working on the left side is easier on the yamahas.

Wasn't that bad once I removed the drum bolt. But damn 6 gears a collar and shift fork, nothing wiped out like I'd see with the Suzuki's but quite a few edges rounded off on the dogs.

Did a little shopping and saved $200 by not going with one of the big 3 mail-order companies. Since the local parts manager left and went to work for Tucker Rocky I have gone online about 90% of the time now.

Now another question is it worth putting the crank and transmission into the left side case to re-assemble or deal with trying to install trans, forks and drum all at once in the right side?
